CLEANLINESS, HYGIENE AND FACE COVERINGS:

  • We've introduced new hand santiser stations around the railway, and we encourage you to make regular use of them.

  • All door handles will be sanitised between every service.

  • From Monday 14th September 2020 people in Wales MUST wear a face-covering in indoor public spaces.

  • This includes in our station buildings, tearoom and gift shop, and at The Railway Shop in Blaenavon.

  • The Welsh Government has made wearing face-covering on public transport mandatory in Wales.

  • Although we are a heritage railway, legally we are still classed as a public transport provider under these regulations.

  • In line with these laws, please wear a face-covering or mask when in carriage corridors. These then may be removed whilst your compartment. Please ensure that your mask is replaced when leaving the compartment.

  • Exemptions apply to children under 11 and those who are unable to wear a face-covering because of a medical condition or disability.

  • DO NOT TRAVEL TO THE RAILWAY IF YOU ARE ILL/EXPERIENCING COVID-19 SYMPTOMS. STAY AT HOME, FOLLOW GOVERNMENT GUIDANCE AND CONTACT US TO CANCEL OR REARRANGE YOUR BOOKING.

  • We regret that Big Pit Halt will remain closed until further notice.

  • Although trains will run to Whistle Inn Halt as part of the journey, it will not be possible to alight here. Intending patrons for the Whistle Inn public house must make their own way to and from the venue.

  • At Blaenavon High Level you may alight to stretch your legs and watch the locomotive run around its train. If you do so, please ensure that you maintain a 2-metre distance from others at all times. To help maintain a safe distance, you may wish to use space in the immediate station area. If so, please ensure that you are considerate to our neighbours, especially users of the Pontypool – Blaenavon National Cycle Route.
