Halloween Ghost Train information

In advance of tomorrow’s release of Halloween Ghost Train tickets, please see the below useful information.

PREBOOKING ONLY – This year our Halloween Ghost Train services will be prebooking only. Do not travel to the Railway if you do not have a ticket as our volunteers will have to turn you away.

DATES: Thursday 28th, Friday 29th, Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st October 2021.

TIMES: Trains depart Furnace Sidings at 4:00pm; 4:45pm, 5:30pm, 6:15pm, 7:00pm, 7:45pm, 8:30pm

EVENT SUITABILITY: Our Ghost Train Services are generally suitable for those aged 5 and over. Those wanting a less scary experience are advised to book onto the 4:00 pm and 4:45 departures.

COST: Tickets cost £8 per person excluding a small booking fee charged by our ticketing provider TicketSource, with children aged under three and carers travelling free (just purchase tickets for those who require them).

TICKET RELEASE TIME: 9:00 am Monday 27th September 2021.

TICKETS: Tickets are valid for ONE round trip from Furnace Sidings station at your booked departure time only.

TRIP LENGTH: Each round trip will last for approximately 15 – 20 minutes, inclusive of a brief stop on the journey and a wait at Whistle Inn Halt.

SEATING: Seats will not be pre-allocated in advance; volunteers on the ground will direct you towards available space in either one of our standard or compartment carriages.

WHEELCHAIR USERS: One wheelchair can be carried aboard each train – please contact us in advance so we can expect you.

FACE COVERINGS: In line with Welsh Government regulations, all visitors aged 11 and above must wear a face-covering whilst travelling aboard our trains and when inside our station buildings unless exempt.

DRESSING UP: Please do!

CAPACITY LIMITS: Each train has a strict capacity limit in place to ensure that all visitors can travel seated – please do not bring any additional intending passengers with you as we will be unable to accommodate them.

COVID-19 PASSES: It is our current understanding that the Halloween Ghost Train services and associated outdoor facilities will fall below the capacity thresholds for which COVID-19 passes would be required. However, the Pontypool and Blaenavon Railway Company (1983) Limited reserve the right to alter this in line with subsequent official advice or instruction.

SELF-ISOLATION: Do not attend the Railway if you have COVID-19 symptoms, are in the self-isolation period following a COVID-19 diagnosis or have been told to self-isolate by either the NHS Wales Test, Trace, Protect or NHS England Test and Trace services. Instead, please contact us via the website to discuss your booking.

LOCKDOWN REFUNDS: In the event that we are forced to cancel the event because of lockdown restrictions, we will work with our ticketing provider TicketSource to arrange refunds (minus booking fees) to affected customers.

REFRESHMENTS: Refreshments will be available from both our tearoom and the Little Dragon Pizza van. Please be aware that we will only be accepting card/contactless payments in the tearoom.

TOILETS: Toilets (including accessible facilities) will be available at Furnace Sidings station, with additional portable toilets situated across the car park.

WHISTLE INN PUBLIC HOUSE: The Whistle Inn and Campsite, Blaenavon is owned and operated independently of the Pontypool and Blaenavon Railway/Blaenavon’s Heritage Railway and intending visitors should confirm opening times etc. with the venue itself.

SAFETY: Visitors are reminded that we are a full-sized operational railway and to take care at all times whilst visiting us.
