PLANNED REOPENING FROM SATURDAY 1ST MAY 2021

The Pontypool and Blaenavon Railway/Blaenavon’s Heritage Railway is excited to announce its plan to reopen from Saturday 1st May 2021 onwards, subject to the further easing of Welsh lockdown restrictions.
To keep visitors, volunteers and the wider community safe, our highly praised social distancing measures will remain in place for as long as is necessary. Initially, all tickets will need to be pre-booked before visiting to ensure that we can maintain space between households. In addition to our popular private compartments, we are also looking to introduce socially distanced seating in our ‘open' carriages to provide a more affordable option for smaller groups.
Please note that the above remains subject to Welsh Government lockdown restrictions. More definite information (including that about ticket prices and availability) will be announced in the coming weeks.
Commenting upon the reopening plans, Operations Manager Alex Hinshelwood said:
‘After a significantly shorter 2020 running season, our volunteers are looking forward to welcoming visitors back to Blaenavon very soon. Our engines, carriages and infrastructure are currently being prepared for service, and we cannot wait to reopen.’
