COVID-19

APPEAL

Blaenavon’s Heritage Railway needs your help!

Update: 1st October 2020

In late August Blaenavon's Heritage Railway reopened following the COVID-19 lockdown. During that very uncertain period from March to then, you raised around £3,500 to help us survive the extended closure.

Sadly, in recent weeks COVID-19 cases have again risen rapidly across South Wales. In response, local lockdown measures have been introduced throughout the area for an indefinite period of time. Although we hoped to run our popular Halloween Ghost Trains in a much-modified form, with the current uncertainty, we regret that this is no longer possible. We will make a decision on our Steam Santa Specials soon.

We've been overwhelmed by the support that you've shown following the difficult decision to cancel our Ghost Trains. Besides the disappointment caused to both visitors and volunteers, with the event normally bringing in around £30,000 every year, the cancellation comes at a significant cost to us.

In response, we have extended our COVID-19 appeal for any donations you may wish to make. All funds raised go towards ensuring the survival of our volunteer-run railway, allowing us to continue making memories for many generations to come. In the coming weeks, we will also be thinking of new ways for you to help us survive what is set to be a challenging autumn and winter.

To donate to the Appeal, either visit the donations page on this website or the GoFundMe appeal created by our Director Alex Hinshelwood. We like to keep optimistic. If the situation improves, then we may investigate whether we can run some form of service. For the time being, any support you can offer will be most gratefully received.

Donate £10-24.99 and you will get the chance to win a family ticket! Donations over £25 will enter you into the draw to win a Heritage Experience! Please provide the donation comment ‘WIN’ to enter the competitions!

Facebook fundraiser - £200

As of the 04/10/2020 we have raised £3,549.00!
