2024 Services

Join us for a trip back in time
through the World Heritage Landscape

Welcome to our Railway.

When booking online please either print out your confirmation of booking or save it to your mobile phone. You will need to show this at our booking office at Furnace Sidings when you arrive in order to receive your travel tickets. Please do not board the train unless you have your travel tickets. Please read our terms and conditions of booking before purchasing tickets.

WARNING - Scammers are actively trying to sell tickets that aren’t genuine.
We strongly advise that you only purchase tickets direct from this website.
Our system checks every ticket on arrival and will identify those that are not genuine.

If you board the train at any other station then please collect your tickets from the ticket office at Furnace Sidings when you arrive there.

On this page, you can find information about our ordinary operating days.

For special events, please visit the dedicated events page here.

*Stated advance prices exclude a small booking fee paid to our ticketing provider, TicketSource.

Children aged 0 - 3 yrs travel for free on standard running days only. Well behaved dogs are also welcomed to travel at no cost - we just kindly request that they are kept off the seats at all times.

Those purchasing tickets through TicketSource will be booked onto a specific service. Subject to available space, they may also travel on additional services on the booked day of travel only - please speak to our Station Masters for further information.

Tickets are available on the day of travel from our ticket office at our Furnace Sidings station. Please note that we only accept contactless/card payments. There are no cash facilities available.

Please note that stated fares are standard for travel in either our regular 'TSO open carriage' or one of our compartment carriages, depending on the stock in use on the day of your visit and what seats you have selected when checking out. For representative images, please see here.

Different fares will apply for travel aboard our saloons. See the dedicated page here for further information.

We operate services every weekend from April to September, with additional services on bank and public holidays, together with Wednesdays during the school summer holidays.

Our popular Halloween Ghost Trains and Steam Santa Specials also return, with further information to follow in due course.
Please do not contact us about these events at the current time.
Full details and ticket availability will be posted on this website and on our Facebook page when they have been finalised.

To find out more about our special events, please visit our dedicated pages.

Saloon Travel

In 2022 we introduced regular saloon travel on our services. These carriages allow visitors to experience life as an engineering director and are subject to an altered fare structure.

For further information, please visit our dedicated saloon travel page here.

Importand Noice - Accessibility

Due to ongoing carriage maintenance, we deeply regret that wheelchair facilities are currently reduced. At present we cannot board wheelchairs onto the train, with all passengers needing to be able to walk or be carried from the platform through the relatively narrow doors onto a seat. We expect the carriage used to accommodate wheelchairs to resume service over the Easter weekend, following which it will once again be taken out of service for further maintenance, being used only on bank holidays until later in the Spring.

We deeply regret the above. In addition to our usual carriage returning to service later in the summer, an additional carriage specifically adapted for wheelchair users will also enter service in the second half of this year.
