Welcome back to our Railway!
In 2022 we are operating a normal calendar of regular operating days together with a busy programme of special events.

Children aged 3 and under travel free, child tickets are for those aged 4 - 16, senior tickets are for those aged 60 plus (standard running days only, ticket prices, ages and conditions may vary on special event days.) Well behaved dogs travel free.

When booking online please either print out your confirmation of booking or save it to your mobile phone. You will need to show this at our booking office at Furnace Sidings when you arrive in order to receive your travel tickets. Please do not board the train unless you have your travel tickets.

If you board the train at any other station then please collect your tickets from the ticket office at Furnace Sidings when you arrive there.

On this page, you can find information about our ordinary operating days.

For special events, please visit the dedicated events page here.

We will be operating every weekend from Saturday 2nd April to Sunday 2nd October, with additional services on bank and public holidays, together with Wednesdays during the summer holidays.

Our popular Halloween Ghost Trains and Steam Santa Specials also return, with further information to follow in due course.

Carers (proof of status required) and children aged 0 - 3 travel for free. Well behaved dogs are also welcome to travel at no cost - we just kindly request that they are kept off the seats at all times.

Those purchasing tickets through TicketSource will be booked onto a specific service. Subject to available space, they may also travel on additional services on the booked day of travel only - please speak to our Station Masters for further information.

Please note that stated fares are standard for travel in either our regular 'TSO open carriage' or one of our compartment carriages, depending on the stock in use on the day of your visit and what seats you have selected when checking out. For representative images, please see here.

Different fares will apply for travel aboard our saloons. See the dedicated page here for further information.

In 2022 we will be introducing regular saloon travel on our services. These carriages allow visitors to experience life as an engineering director and are subject to an altered fare structure.

Due to ongoing carriage maintenance, we deeply regret that wheelchair facilities are currently reduced. At present we cannot board wheelchairs onto the train, with all passengers needing to be able to walk or be carried from the platform through the relatively narrow doors onto a seat. We expect the carriage used to accommodate wheelchairs to resume service over the Easter weekend, following which it will once again be taken out of service for further maintenance, being used only on bank holidays until later in the Spring.

We deeply regret the above. In addition to our usual carriage returning to service later in the summer, an additional carriage specifically adapted for wheelchair users will also enter service in the second half of this year.
